ABOUT OUR KINDY
OUR PHILOSOPHY
We welcome your family to Landsborough Kindergarten. We are a community kindergarten affiliate with The Lady Gowrie QLD. We believe that when families, staff and committee work together it makes it possible to provide the best possible learning environment for children.

At Landsborough Kindergarten our teaching team is committed to providing a safe, caring, stimulating and educational environment for young children of Landsborough and surrounding districts. We will be excited by and respectful of each child's individual learning journey throughout their kindergarten year. We recognise that each child has their own learning style and we will nurture and respect their needs, abilities and ideas in a safe and secure environment. We promote a flexible program that encourages and supports investigation, creativity, problem solving and independent exploration. Children are encouraged to participate in the planning of their program and environment. Children learn through play and we will endeavour to provide an environment that is stimulating, challenging and builds upon each child's interests, knowledge and skills. We recognise the importance of providing children with the opportunities for taking considered risk in a safe and suitable environment and will encourage and guide children to do so.

Providing a home-like environment is of high priority. We believe that families are their child's first and most influential teachers and we will work in partnership to ensure we provide positive experiences for their child. Each family is unique and we respect and embrace individual cultures and customs, traditions, life experience and welcome family participation. We pay our respects to the Gubbi Gubbi people and their country, as the traditional owners of the land that hosts our kindergarten.

Landsborough Kindergarten operates under the National Quality Framework. The service must comply with the Education and Care Services National Law Act 2011 and the Education and Care Services National Regulations 2011.

OUR CURRICULUM
We are proud of our education team at Landsborough Kindy and are constantly working to develop ourselves further as professionals and advocates for early childhood education.

Our curriculum is based on the Queensland Kindergarten Learning Guidelines (QKLG) which incorporates the early Years Learning Framework (EYLF). These curriculum documents place emphasis on play as learning and recognise the importance of communication, language, social and emotional development within the early years. Our program is designed to be collaborative and emergent in its very nature. Allowing planning to be fluid and spontaneous each day in response to the children’s interest and inquiry at the time. Through play children learn ways to communicate, cooperate, persevere, think and wonder, develop independence and autonomy, imagination and creativity. Our educational team support children throughout the day to delve deeper in their pondering and wondering and scaffold experiences for children's learning through being present and active as collaborators within children’s play.

We would love for your family to share any special events, cultural days, knowledge, talents and skills within our kindy community and always welcome families to join us to read a story, share a cooking and music experience, lead us in a small project or bring along artefacts from home life to share within our program.
